"Guys we might as well start the tournament off.  The rules are okay, and the draw has been done. Almost of you have responded and seem okay with the map, although Glider has sadly had to drop out.  Herr Schacht, please note that Devil Thomas(FGM) is his replacement.  Please contact your opposite number, and get your first attack/defence game underway.  Assuming no problems are encountered we'll start the second attack defence game in a few weeks time.  As normal, please E-Mail me to confirm when you exchange your first file.  I'll update the web site on my return from holiday (when hopefully I can get back on-line).  Have a good game.

3 Jun 05.    The Round 1 draw has been finalalised, and the necessary tables set-up.  Still working one some aspects of the game parameters.  I am hopeful we can start the tournament shortly.

28 May 05.   Still finalizing the details of how the tournament will be played.

17 May 05.   The tournament is now full with 16 players.

16 May 05. Posted the following onto the Blitz MB:
"Okay guys, we have 14 players thus far. 16 would be ideal (and will be the maximum), but we can work with 14. Hopefully before we start we will get a further 2 recruits.
Picking up on the various suggestions on how the tournament could be configured I propose the following:
The 14 players are split into 4 groups
Group 1 & 2
4 Players in each
Group 3 & 4
3 Players in each.
Everybody plays 1 match against each of the other players in their group. (In Groups 3 & 4 two of the players will play each other twice)
The 3 scenarios will be:
Attack
Meeting Engagement
Defence
All scenarios will be 5,000 points.
Force Mix will be Combined Arms.
The players who score the highest number of points in each group go through to the final play offs, in which these 4 players play again through the 3 types of scenario. The points scores at the end will determine the final positions in the tournament.
I hope that is reasonable clear.
Picking up on the suggestions I now propose to put various aspects to a vote (this is for the initial round). Please indicate which you prefer:
CMBB - Barbarossa
or
CMAK - Ardennes
30+ Turns
or
40+ Turns
Please respond with your preferences (and any other constructive feedback of course  )
Cheers   Vulture

13 May 05.    Posted the following message onto the Blitz MB   http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/read.php?f=4&i=26461&t=26461

"Guys
I'm chewing on a new tournament idea. Most of my tournaments to date have been small to medium map affairs normally around 2000 points. I realize that I haven't catered for the really dedicated players out there who like their games to be HUGE QB 5,000 point 40 turn + affairs that really sort the men from the boys.
What I propose is to take the names of those interested, and then by discussion we'll narrow down:
a) Which CM engine to use.
b) The parameters to use.
c) The tournament structure ( i.e. a small league or as the normal brutal knockout).
Those interested in participating in what will be a 12 to 18 month tourney should reply to this thread, along with any initial ideas / thoughts they might have.
Strength and honour !!!
Vulture"
